KaBokweni police are requesting community members who submitted firearms to the police station, claiming that the owners had passed away, to come forward in order to provide them with more clarity.

KaBokweni police spokesman Constable Muzi Ngomane said the relatives of the firearms' previous owners could take the firearms if they wished.

"There's nothing wrong with these firearms. We just want them to help us to decide because we don't know what to do with these arms," Ngomane said.

"We have kept them in our safe since last year. If they do not come, the state will gain ownership of them."

He said more than 50 legal firearms and bullets had been submitted since last year.
