Opposition parties have expressed shock at the sudden resignation of Kokstad municipal manager Thandolwakhe Tubane.

Tubane resigned yesterday during a disciplinary hearing related to irregularities and misspending of municipal monies. His lawyer, Wesley Pretorius, confirmed Tubane had resigned.

He said the parties agreed that Tubane's service be terminated on mutually acceptable terms.

Details of the exact terms were not made available, but Sowetan has learnt that he will receive his salary for six months. Tubane was suspended in March this year
