Limpopo premier Sello Moloto is riding a crest of popularity after firing two MECs for incompetence. This bold move has earned him kudos as a leader committed to a public service ethos and clean governance.

But, alas, he seems hellbent on proving himself unworthy of the accolades. He appears uncomfortable breaking ranks with comrades in high office known for indecisiveness on matters of national importance - including President Thabo Mbeki and safety and security minister Charles Nqakula. Their lack of leadership on the scandal engulfing police boss Jackie Selebi is astounding.

How else to explain Moloto's embracing sex pest Norman Mashabane despite government and ANC commitment to the emancipation of women? Come on, chief, fire the pest before he drags you down.
