Ntombifuthi Ritha Ngema-Simelane, charged with the murder of her husband, Themba Simelane, made a brief appearance in the Mahlabathini magistrates' court yesterday.

Themba Simelane, 41, a police inspector in Ulundi, northern KwaZulu-Natal, was murdered a week ago when unknown assailants entered his house in Ulundi's D-section and allegedly cut his throat before stabbing him 16 times.

Simelane died on the scene and his cellphone was stolen.

As mourners watched, police arrested thirty-three-year-old Ntom- bifuthi at Simelane's funeral in Ntumeni in Eshowe at the weekend.
