The UN food aid agency yesterday said it would be forced to cut food aid to about 90000 children in Namibia.

John Prout, the World Food Programme's director in Namibia, said: "It's an unjust and preventable tragedy that children become the victims of funding shortfalls.

"As new problems emerge in Africa and the rest of the world, donor focus has shifted away from southern Africa," Prout said. - Sapa-AFP
