Prominent Limpopo livestock farmer and businessman, Frank Sebola of Devrede village in GaKibi, died this week after a long illness. He was 79.
Sebola was born in Tswaing village next to the Soutpansberg mountains on April 15, 1927.
From his humble beginnings, Sebola earned himself respect in his small community by breeding cattle and selling them.
Livestock farming was his source of income and it helped him send all his six children to school.
In 1979 he started the Devrede General Dealer, a grocery shop that provided a service to the villagers of Devrede and Malebogo.
The establishment of the general dealer endeared him to the community, which during those years had to travel long distances to buy food.
He was also an active member of the Bochum Chamber of Commerce.
Despite his tight schedule, Sebola found time to go to church every Sunday. He was a staunch member of the Apostolic Faith Mission Church.
He also earned respect from his community because he helped many poor families by sending their children to school and helping them with other financial problems.
In the 1950s he married Elisa Sebei and they were blessed with six children, three sons and three daughters.
One of his daughters, Refiloe Kubyana, is the mayor of Blouberg municipality.
She described her father as a hard worker.
"My father was a role model who devoted most of his time to be with his family.
"He was such a loving father. He was my close friend. He was a friend to all his children.
"He was always willing to help his family and to give constructive ideas," Kubyana said.
Sebola is survived by his wife, six children, 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He will be buried tomorrow at the Devrede Cemetery at 10am.
The funeral proceedings start at 7am at his house in Devrede.
