Thumbs up for Moripe Games

The yearly Lucas "Masterpieces" Moripe Goodwill Games will once again be staged over the festive period at soccer grounds in Atteridgeville.

The yearly Lucas "Masterpieces" Moripe Goodwill Games will once again be staged over the festive period at soccer grounds in Atteridgeville.

The games have been incorporated into the sports and youth development projects of the Lucas Moripe Foundation that was set up to honour one of the greatest soccer players this country has ever seen.

Moripe has received numerous awards in recognition of the contribution he has made as a player to not only soccer, but to sports in general, in Atteridgeville and the wider Pretoria area.

He played for teams like Orlando Pirates and GaRankuwa Kilmarnock.

Abe Setlhako, convenor of the games and a trustee of the foundation said they have reached agreement with the previous organisers of the games and a joint games committee, approved by Moripe himself, has been set up to run the games.

Clubs who wish to take part have only a week left to enter. Any interested club can contact Setlhako on 082-389-9043 or Itu Moloto on 083-225-2365 to obtain entry forms and any other details on the competition. - Sowetan
