Yvonne Chaka Chaka will perform with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra in a unique concert to be conducted by George Michie.

The concert at the Arts Cape Opera House on December 3 is one of the highlights featured in the first Cape Town International Summer Music Festival that runs from November 16 to December 7.

Chaka Chaka will perform a wide variety of works including Motherland, Qongosa, Umgombothi, Natural Woman, theAfrican Suite, Wimoweh, theClick Song and theRetreat Song.

These will be complemented by music from Gershwin, Cole Porter, John Williams and Irving Berlin, with many classical music performances of the highest quality that include a line-up of international, local musicians and conductors.

Throughout her illustrious career Chaka Chaka has shared the stage with and performed for such leading figures as former president Nelson Mandela, Queen Elizabeth II, Richard Branson, Bono, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones and Oprah Winfrey.

Capetonians and visitors from all over the country and the world are expected to attend the concert in throngs. Tickets cost R120 from Computicket outlets or from Artscape Dial-a-Seat on 021-421-7695.
