VIP kids get pizza

A group of youngsters invited to Kyalami at the weekend were not allowed to share a meal prepared for Wesbank's VIPs.

What should have been a fun-filled day at the races for township youngsters became an embarrassment and they chose to leave before lunch.

A Wesbank staff member who was given the job of exposing previously disadvantaged children to motor sports said the bank and a local radio station invited the children to experience a day of action.

The 10 children, aged between 10 and 15, were taken to Kyalami and shown around the race track and everything was fine until lunch time.

The children, from eastern Gauteng, were chosen to spend the day at Kyalami after entering a phone-in competition.

The employee of the bank said that when he secured tickets for the children he realised that no provision had been made for feeding them.

He took the children to a local shopping mall and treated them to pizzas. The children chose to head home after their meal rather than watch the end of the race.
