Safa has distanced itself from a friendly against Tanzania scheduled for December 9.

According to the Fifa website, Bafana Bafana will travel to Tanzania for a friendly in 10 days' time.

"We know nothing about that fixture. We have never received any correspondence to that effect from the Tanzanian association. It is news to me," said Safa chief executive Raymond Hack yesterday.

Asked to comment on the fixture, Fifa spokesman John Schumacher said his organisation would take Safa's word on the matter.

"We rely on the respective associations for information we put on our website. Sometimes we pick up information from newspapers and other media, which is not always 100 percent correct," said Schumacher.

'I think this is one such case and we will be going back to both associations and take the information off the site if it is not correct."

Attempts to get hold of the Tanzanian Football Federation drew a blank yesterday.

According to Safa, Bafana Bafana will not play any game until March next year when they host Chad in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

New Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira will call the team up for a camp on February 7, the Fifa date for international friendly matches.

After that the team will only assemble for the home qualifier in March.

Friendlies against the likes of Italy, Brazil, France, Holland and Germany are on the cards for next year.
