Newlyweds Tebogo, 27, and Innocent Moalusi, 32, of Orlando West, Soweto, are supposed to be enjoying their honeymoon in Cape Town, but they are not.

This because a reckless taxi driver ran over them more than a week ago.

Innocent is in hospital, recovering from a spine injury and Tebogo is nursing severe injuries at home.

Tebogo said that she does not believe what happened to them was an accident.

She asked: "How would somebody run over my wheelchair-bound husband and while I'm trying to help him the car runs over me and drags me for more than 100 metres?

"Sibusiso Mdluli, our neighbour who tried to help, was also hit by the same taxi. It is strange because the driver saw me and still drove over me," she said.

Mdluli was admitted to Chris Hani-Baragwanath Hospital.

Police spokesman Richard Munyai said the police were investigating the matter after it was reported to them.
