The Greater Tzaneen Municipality in Limpopo scooped the yearly Limpopo Vuna Awards in Polokwane at the weekend and walked away with R750 000.

The municipality yesterday said it would use the money for rural waste removals.

"Our rural waste system is not up to scratch. We will plough back into the communities. The money will be used to improve the rural waste system in the villages," said municipal manager Mabakane Mangena.

Recently, the municipality was nominated the province's cleanest town. It will participate in the national competition next month.
