Thokoza Sports Complex will be a hive of activity when the third edition of the Ekurhuleni Open Chess Tournament takes place on Saturday and Sunday.

Thokoza Sports Complex will be a hive of activity when the third edition of the Ekurhuleni Open Chess Tournament takes place on Saturday and Sunday.

The yearly tournament is sanctioned by the Ekurhuleni municipality's sports and recreation department, in conjunction with the Kathorus Chess Association.

Coordinator Tsietsi Tenyane said they are expecting more than 200 participants to attend the tournament that is growing. Clubs from Katlehong, Thokoza, Vosloorus, Tembisa and Soweto are expected to attend.

The competition has been divided into A and B sections in the seniors, and under-12s.

They entry fee is R80 a person for section A, R60 for B and R30 for juniors
