Former Transnet Football School of Excellence general manager Simon Ngobeni is joining Benoni Premier United.

This was confirmed by Rabbits' owner Dumisani Ndlovu, whose club take on AmaZulu in a Castle Premiership match at Mehlareng Stadium on Sunday.

"I have known Simon for a long time, he has helped me with some of the players. I started recruiting him after I read in Sowetan that he had resigned at Excellence," he said. "He will be helping me with administration matters. I thought I needed an outsider to assist."

Ngobeni quit Excellence four months ago after being frustrated by the ongoing problems at the academy jointly owned by Safa and Transnet.

Ndlovu said of the game: "We were informed that Germiston Stadium is not available. It is a blessing in disguise because the move will help us a lot to market ourselves in Tembisa where we have a reasonable crowd."
