The last time Gordon Igesund took on Ajax Cape Town at a significant stage of a knockout competition, it was the Rothmans Cup final replay and he was in charge of giants Orlando Pirates.

That result will remain indelibly etched in Igesund's coaching career as the Urban Warriors ran amok at Soccer City, beating the Buccaneers 4-1 before 45 000 spectators.

Igesund is now in charge of another PSL giant, Mamelodi Sundowns, and thoughts of that fateful night back in 2000 must have flooded back when he learnt yesterday he had drawn Ajax in the Telkom Knockout Cup semifinal.

Sundowns meet Ajax in the second semifinal at Olympia Park Stadium on December 3, while Santos and Silver Stars are scheduled for Olen Park Stadium, Potchefstroom, the day before.

"It is a tricky draw," admitted Sundowns' general manager Walter Kutumela. "Any of the remaining four teams can win this tournament."

"We are a cup team," declared Santos' spokesman Boebie Schloss.

"It is a tough draw but we will be going into this game with an intention to win," said Stars' boss Larry Brookstone.
