Traditional healers in Johannesburg yesterday called for the fast-tracking of the Traditional Healers Practice Act.

Traditional healers in Johannesburg yesterday called for the fast-tracking of the Traditional Healers Practice Act.

This is one of the demands in a memorandum that members of the Traditional Healers' Association were taking to Gauteng health MEC, Brian Hlongwa, when they marched through central Johannesburg yesterday.

The association called on the Gauteng government to support Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, the health minister, in acknowledging traditional health practitioners' role.

The memorandum also called for the establishment of a provincial traditional medicine directorate and asked for a meeting with the Gauteng Health Department on Monday. - Sapa
