Johannes "Fire" Phefadu, Limpopo Under-17 soccer squad manager, believes the team they have selected has what it takes to wreak havoc at the national championships next week.

The team was selected at the trials held at the Seshego Stadium three weeks ago by provincial head coach Raymond Mdaka and his lieutenants.

"It is a balanced team, representative of the whole province. We have decided to go for boys who will make us proud and not just glossing over," said Phefadu.

Limpopo came close to winning the tournament once in 2001 when they were defeated by Gauteng in the final in Polokwane.

Three years later, Limpopo were bundled out in the semifinals. Limpopo start their campaign against Mpumalanga.

Selokela Masetle, Safa competitions' director, said the Coca-Cola Under-17 Challenge will be played in Rustenburg from November 26 to December 2.

Masetle said all nine provinces will compete in the championships.
