A Traditional Healers Organisation meeting was told that it was a sin to use body parts and that God made plants to heal the sick.

Traditional healers who met in KwaZulu-Natal lashed out at muti killers and took a decision to expose traditional healers who mutilated people and killed for muti. They also said that some healers gave the profession a bad name.

Hundreds of traditional healers from across the province met at makhosi Jabu Masondo's home at Kwadabeka.

Masondo said the aim of the meeting was to return dignity to their trade.

"We want to return traditional healing to a respectful profession that people will trust and consult without fear," said Masondo.

She also rejected reports that hordes of people with HIV had died on her doorstep.

"There was one death. The person had full-blown Aids. When patients are ill I refer them to the local hospital. I do not cure Aids."

The meeting resolved to organise workshops, where healers will be encouraged to use natural herbs to heal the sick.
