Mpumalanga finance MEC Mmathulare Coleman says poor debt collecting by municipalities in the province results in their inability to deliver services.

Tabling this year's Provincial Budget Adjustment Appropriation Bill on Tuesday, Coleman said the spending patterns of municipalities in the province were of great concern.

"Added to that is the poor debt collection that results in their inability to deliver services effectively," she said.

The MEC said the municipal support unit in the provincial treasury was working closely with municipalities to deal with their different challenges.
