Boxing trainer Keith Rass has lambasted yours truly for writing "nonsense" about him in article that appeared in Sowetan on October 24.

The story was about the alarming decline of coloured fighters in the professional game. Daniel Ward, Jan Bergman and Reggie Healey shared the view that the way to halt the decline of boxing in former coloured areas was to focus on the amateur ranks.

Ward, a former Transvaal, South African and Commonwealth flyweight titlist, said the existing stables like those of Benny Pailman, Rass and Brendan Hulley were not the answer because they boasted of "outsiders".

Rass said: " Maybe I am not aware that my boxers Clinton Kinnear, Ronald Parks and Peter Adams are from Zimbabwe.

" Your report jeopardises my chances of getting a sponsor because it gives an impression that I am not doing anything for my community."
