Former ANC chief whip and convicted fraudster Tony Yengeni will be hauled before a correctional services hearing for breaching the conditions of his parole at the weekend.

Yengeni is being investigated after claims that while on parole at the weekend he drank liquor and returned late to Malmesbury Prison, where he is serving a four-year sentence.

According to departmental spokesman Manelisi Wolela, Correctional Services Minister Ngconde Balfour was "not happy" with Yengeni's late return.

Opposition political parties were outraged by the former ANC heavyweight's conduct and alleged he was getting preferential treatment.- Sapa
