A 19-year-old woman has been arrested after she allegedly killed and buried her two-year-old daughter in a shallow grave.
The murder took place at Nkambako village in Letsitele, Tzaneen, Limpopo, last week.
It only came to light yesterday when concerned neighbours began asking about the little girl's whereabouts.
The police charge sheet indicates that the suspect woke up on Monday morning and took her little girl to a local river.
Upon arrival, she throttled her child. The child, however, did not die.
The suspect dug a small grave and buried the girl, while she was unconscious.
Superintendent Moatshe Ngoepe said police were called by concerned neighbours.
The neighbours said they were not convinced by the answers given by the suspect when they asked where the child was.
The suspect stays with her grandmother. Her mother works in Gauteng and her parents are recently divorced.
The suspect will appear in the Letsitele magistrates' court today on a charge of murder.
l A 22-year-old woman was arrested early yesterday after stabbing her boyfriend to death.
It is reported that the suspect went to her boyfriend's residence in Zone 2, Giyani, and found him sleeping with another woman.
Angered by what she saw, the suspect took out a knife and stabbed the boyfriend, identified as Jonas Baloyi, to death.
Baloyi died instantly. The other woman fled from the scene.
The suspect will appear in the Giyani magistrates' court today.
l In GaMaake, near Tzaneen, a man, 22, was stabbed to death at midnight on Saturday.
Witnesses said the deceased, Tumele Makwala, was walking to his parents' home in the village with a friend when they were approached by two unknown men.
Without uttering a word, the suspects stabbed Makwala in the chest before running away.
