The problem with talented people, such as Nana Kutumela, is that when they die they leave a void that is difficult to fill.
Kutumela, a former journalist, died on Monday after suffering a stroke.
She finished her primary school education in the Eastern Cape and completed her matric at Morris Isaacson High School in Soweto.
Kutumela studied journalism in Zambia, the UK and France.
She worked for Post Transvaal, Sowetan, Soweto News, Bona Magazine and City Press.
She was the first black woman to start her own bottled mineral water company, and at the time of her death she was the managing director of her company.
Kutumela served as media officer for the Federation for the Transvaal Women and the United Democratic Front. She was also a founding member of the Congress of South African Writers.
She is survived by her mother.
Kutumela will be buried today at Avalon Cemetery after an 8am service at the International Assemblies of God in Mofolo Central. The cortege leaves at 10am.
