The 70/80 Soccer Legends, which is becoming one of the most powerful organisations in South African soccer, has made enormous strides in the game.

The organisation that caters for all soccer players, administrators and referees, was founded by former professional players in Gauteng in 2003.

But its members include all people who contributed to the development of the beautiful game.

Trott Moloto, the national coordinator, said they have started establishing structures in the nine provinces. The first was in Gauteng, where they conducted roadshows.

They followed up with KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, North West, Mpumalanga, Eastern Cape and Free State. The structure in Free State was launched last month.

They are only left with Western Cape and Northern Cape to complete their task.

"We'll be going to the Western Cape this month and to the Northern Cape in December," said Moloto, the former Bafana Bafana coach.

"It's amazing because all the structures we have established have received support from their respective provincial governments.

"They have their own offices, chairmen and their own funeral schemes. We do this out of our own pockets because we don't have sponsorship.

"Our task is to assist Safa in the development of the game at grassroots level and to involve former professional players," said Moloto.

"We're working together with Safa, covering all corners of the country, reaching places where development is nonexistent. Our target is not the 2010 Fifa World Cup, but to assist and create employment for our members."

Moloto said that soon after all the regional structures are launched, a board of governors will be formed from chairmen of the nine provinces and they will decide where the head office will be based.
