A family land claims victory turned into an ugly feud after a relative allegedly withdrew R83000 from the family trust fund.
The fund was established three years ago when the family in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, got compensation from the land claims commission for their grandfather's demolished properties.
The properties included a house in town and two other buildings at New Town and Sidikidini locations that were destroyed under the Group Areas Act.
Angry family members allege that one relative, Linda Sixishe, withdrew money from the family trust fund, claiming that his parents owned one of the properties.
Pumla Sixishe said: "After consulting the municipality, we discovered this was untrue and demanded the money back."
The commission has told the family there is nothing it can do because the money had already been deposited into the fund.
The family is now furious that Sixishe has been included in a R500000 compensation due to them in respect of their grandfather's town house.
Linda refused to comment.
