An elderly Good Samaritan in North West is believed to have been raped after offering a passer- by a glass of water on Saturday.

The 79-year-old woman told the police that shortly after she arrived home a man entered her house in Tloung village near Mmabatho and asked for water.

After the man left, the woman went to her bedroom to rest. She woke when she heard a door closing and saw the man to whom she had offered water in her room.

The man then allegedly overpowered and raped her.

When he tried to rape her again the woman begged him not to and gave him R100 in cash. The man left with the money.

Mmabatho police have opened a case of rape and extortion.

l Mmabatho police are investigating the rape after a 23-year-old woman by three men on Saturday at about 10pm at Lonely Park Village.

According to Captain Sabata Mokwabone, the victim was accompanied by two friends when they were confronted by three men.

The men reportedly dragged the woman to a shack in the village where they allegedly took turns at raping her throughout the night.

The victim was able to leave at 5am the next morning and reported the assault to the police.

The suspects are unknown to the woman but she believes she will be able to identify them.

The shack was deserted when it was examined by the police.

Police investigations are continuing.
