New cars can be expensive, which is why it's always a good idea to attend an auction of accident-damaged and recovered small- and medium-size cars.

These sales include cars that are still in mint condition, and others might need a little tender, loving care. This auction offers the opportunity to buy a used, reliable, roadworthy vehicle for less than you could find at any other type of car sale.

Mark Nossel, Aucor director, said: "In the industry these sales are known as stripper and rebuild auctions.

"But newcomers to auctions shouldn't delude themselves by thinking that all the cars have been in accidents. In the past I've seen good, used cars go for almost nothing."

The auction of more than 150 vehicles at 891 Golden Drive, Morehill in Benoni, will include code 2 and 3 bakkies and other small- and medium-size cars, ideal for personal and light commercial use.

The auction is due to start at 10.30am on Tuesday. A R5000 refundable registration fee will be required to bid.

Viewing of the stock can be done the day before the auction between 9am and 4pm.
