Malieketseng Agnes Motaung was the mother of every child in her community.
Born on September 9 1963 in Tsupane, Lesotho, Motaung was loved by many.
She attended Harmony Primary School and Life High in Maseru, where she matriculated. She then moved to Johannesburg in search of work.
In 1988 she landed a job at the General Workers' Union (Gawu).
When Gawu merged with the National Congress of Trade Unions of South Africa in 1991 to form the African Congress of Trade Unions in South Africa, she was appointed administrator.
Motaung had the interest of workers at heart, and supported campaigns to save jobs.
In the Orlando PEMS church she was an active member of the youth fellowship and administered fund raising for the youth.
She was later elected secretary-general for the church's national youth governing body.
During her reign she introduced career guidance for the church's youth.
She died on October 20 at Lesedi Clinic, in Diepkloof, Soweto.
She is survived by her parents, her sister, her brother and her two children.
Motaung will be buried tomorrow at Avalon Cemetery.
The service will be held at DOCC, Orlando East, from 7.30 am.
