The leadership of the ANC's tripartite alliance in North West are finding common ground in their attempts to resolve their current conflicts.

At an alliance meeting in Rustenburg earlier this week, attended by representatives of the ANC, Congress of South African Trade Unions, South African Communist Party and the SA National Civics Organisation, it was resolved to investigate "political factionalism" in the province.

The meeting was characterised by "frank and robust debates" on issues and challenges facing the alliance in the province.

The alliance partners will assist the ANC in investigating claims around the Mapogo and Taliban factions within the alliance.

The Mapogo is the faction said to be siding with former premier Popo Molefe and opposed to the Taliban, which is said to be supporting current premier Edna Molewa.

Also discussed was the incorporation of Khutsong into North West.
