Xerox yesterday pledged to continue to support the Golden Lions Rugby Union for another year, it was announced at a function at Ellis Park Stadium yesterday.

The company, which has been sponsoring the union for the past two years, has an option to renew the deal.

Rob Abraham, managing director of Bytes Document Solutions, the African distributors for Xerox, said they are committed to assisting the union with a positive input to rugby development.

"We are very proud to associate with the union that has committed itself in tackling the issue of transformation," he said. "They have also taken great strides towards improving the sporting code and enhancing the management of its amateur teams.''

Andy Turner, the union's chief executive, said: "Congratulations to the sponsors for showing confidence in us.

"This has encouraged us to work very hard to unearth talent at grassroots level and also improve our professional and amateur leagues.''

He further said the sponsorship will go towards buying equipment, including kits.
