Multiple award-winning afro-pop group Mafikizolo jets off to London today to launch their new album Six Mabone, at Stratford Rex on Friday.

The celebrated outfit will also perform at venues in London to promote the new album.

Six Mabone has elements of swing and the blues in it, with smatterings of kwela and marabi. The album marks their return after a two-year break.

The group - Nhlanhla Nciza and Theo Kgosinkwe - aims to take their London fans on a musical journey of their lives and their township experiences. This will be their second album without Tebza. He was killed in a road-rage accident three years ago.

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, Kgosinkwe said it would not be the first time they launched an album in London.

"We are looking forward to this trip and are keen to put up a good performance," he said.

"Our music is loved by both young and old and we also have many fans beyond our shores. We will continue to take care of our fans by giving them nice music. Six Mabone has all the ingredients of a good album. Our music has since grown over the years and this album shows our experience and growth in the music industry."

Nciza said though the album has new elements, they have retained the same formula that has enabled them to release platinum- selling albums.

Mafikizolo, who are expected back on Sunday, have what it takes to take London by storm.
