Following the disappearance of Ian Palmer, Serame Letsoaka is now flying solo as coach of Mvela Golden League log leaders FC AK.

Palmer has been absent without leave since October 23 after FC AK club president Azziz Kara and his management appointed Letsoaka as joint coach.

This was after Bahumi suffered two consecutive defeats against Free State Stars and Witbank Aces in the Baymed Cup final and in the league.

Palmer seems to have been infuriated by the management's decision to rope in Letsoaka to assist him in their quest to gain promotion to the Castle Premiership.

Before his promotion, Letsoaka - a Safa coaching instructor - was in charge of the club's development.

Albert Mokoena, FC AK chief executive, yesterday announced that their attempts to get hold of Palmer have proved fruitless. As a result, Bahumi have accepted Palmer's self-imposed exile as a termination of the contract.

A letter notifying Palmer of FC AK's decision was sent to him yesterday.

"Ian has failed to honour his contract's key performance area clause by absconding from training sessions since October 23," said Mokoena.

"He was also absent from the match against Fidentia Rangers. We had booked a flight ticket for him to travel to Cape Town with the team. He also failed to turn up for this morning's training session.

"Following numerous unsuccessful attempts to obtain reasons from Palmer regarding his unauthorised absence from the team, the management had no choice but to accept that he is no longer interested in coaching the team.

"Regrettably, in view of the importance of ensuring stability and continuity within the team, the management accepted his self-termination and communicated this to him in writing today.

"Serame will henceforth assume full coaching responsibilities for the team," added Mokoena, whose team welcome Dynamos in Eldorado Park on Saturday.

Palmer could not be reached for comment.
