Sports legends from all over the world are expected in Johannesburg this weekend for the Laureus World Sports Academy forum that starts on Sunday.

Some of the greats coming include Boris Becker, Monica Seles, Edwin Moses, Bobby Charlton, Martina Navratilova and Kip Keino.

Locally, members of the Laureus Friends and Ambassadors include John Moeti, Lucas Radebe, Baby Jake Matlala and Ernst van Dyk.

Topping the agenda for discussion at the forum will be the growth of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, with the emphasis on Africa.

The forum will also tackle issues like the fight against the use of children as soldiers, homelessness and racial problems, using sport as a tool for social change.

The hosting of the forum in Gauteng is supported by Barbara "Sibongile" Creecy, who is the provincial MEC for sports and culture.

Meanwhile, athletics great Michael Johnson and former French football international Marcel Desailly were in Uganda and Kenya last week conducting coaching clinics for locals.

The academy is a unique association of the greatest living sporting legends who share a belief in the power of sport to break down barriers.

It also brings people together and helps improve the lives of young people around the world.

The academy has helped improve the lives of more than 150000 people.
