Everything keeps going right with Corolla

Though some people might consider Toyota Corolla's styling a little conservative, the company's reputation for superior quality, value and reliability makes it a very popular vehicle on the road.

Though some people might consider Toyota Corolla's styling a little conservative, the company's reputation for superior quality, value and reliability makes it a very popular vehicle on the road.

Furthermore, the Corolla has proven to be one of the best medium-sized vehicles on the market when it comes to value depreciation.

The Corolla 160i GLE that we tested had only 42000km on the clock and was selling for R129900.

We felt this was extremely good value for money, particularly because the car should retain its value from here on.

Furthermore, the five-year maintenance plan would ensure minimal running costs for this period.

Mechanically the vehicle was still in a good condition and no defects or irregularities were noticed.

One of the Corolla's stronger selling points is its excellent comfort on the road.

Our test Corolla was very comfortable on all road surfaces and road irregularities were soaked up with ease.

The Corolla also boasts a very comfortable driver's position with ample leg, head and shoulder room for even the tallest people out there.

Over the years the Corolla has also built up a reputation for its excellent cornering ability and this GLE proved to be very nimble around sharp bends.

The vehicle's tyres also proved to be good for at least another 25000 to 30000km.

Another area the Corolla will impress you in is its excellent build quality. In our test vehicle all the controls were still in perfect working order and even the doors closed with a solid thud.

There is certainly a quality feel to the Corolla. Though not at all striking on the outside, the interior is good to look at and all the controls are well within reach of the driver.

Overall, the vehicle was in a superb condition and no major dents or scratches could be seen on the bodywork.

The Corolla 160i GLE comes equipped with central locking, a front-loading CD player, an alarm-immobiliser, a trip computer, air-conditioning and power steering.

And for safety purposes you will also find dual-airbags and an ABS-braking system as standard.

With 42000km on the clock the car was in great condition.

Combined with Toyota's reputation for reliability, everything should keep on going right for a long time to come.

Overall the vehicle offers great value for money.
