Cape Town Mayor Helen Zille and Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool will ask the national treasury for R2billion to help build a world-class stadium for the 2010 World Cup.

Cape Town Mayor Helen Zille and Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool will ask the national treasury for R2billion to help build a world-class stadium for the 2010 World Cup.

This is contained in the joint business plan the officials will give to Finance Minister Trevor Manuel today, the deadline for business plans to be submitted.

The total cost of the 68000-seater stadium will be R2,49billion, with the city providing R400million and the province R100million. - Waghied Misbach
