Sex expert Miriam Datskovsky says women with this kind of lifestyle suffer from "a need-to-feel-wanted" phenomenon. This is a side-effect of emotional reliance.

She says people with emotional reliance depend more on others' opinions and attitudes in maintaining self-image and self-esteem.

"Women grow to define themselves through interpersonal and intimate relationships, whereas men learn to define themselves before they are capable of true intimacy. Women frequently, though not always, need to feel wanted more than men do."

What makes these women so attractive?

Clinical psychologist Dr Hanan Bushkin says one of the greatest human needs is to break barriers and take risks, and for that reason humans keep evolving.

"The need for adventure and risk has never been as great as it is today in our monotonous environment.

"Men's lives have never been as unadventurous as they are today so they look for ways to enrich their lives with adrenalin, risk-taking behaviour and adventure."

Bushkin says some men buy fast cars and take on adrenalin-rich sports. Some find excitement in loose women who offer no sense of stability but a richly exciting rollercoaster ride.

Arthur Mofokate says men generally have wild fantasies and they always try to fulfil them.

"Sometimes you wish your girlfriend's libido was more revved up. You wish she could be like this and like that. That is why men go out to explore and experiment."

But he says he would not leave his girlfriend for a wild girl.

"For a wife or girlfriend I prefer a woman who is not very wild but also not stiff. I love them mild and in-between."

Metro FM's Ezra Ndwandwe says the reason why men would go for wild girls is that they simply get tired of routine.

"A lot of guys get used to their partners."

He says because they fail to spice their love lives they miss certain fun parts.

"If you do the same thing with your partner every day, you get used to that and the more predictable it is the less enjoyable it becomes."

Ndwandwe says most of the time wild girls show enthusiasm for life generally, and they are hotter and they don't nag.

"Generally guys want to remain young for longer. Men go out with younger women because their wives, though they are beautiful, have become boring."

Egoli actor Macks Senatla sa ga Papo says men will go to any extent to experience a fun girl, even if it means losing their relationship, however stable it is.

"I guess it all depends on how much you treasure what you have in your present romantic relationship. If it is stability you are in a relationship for, you will tread very carefully when pursuing that excitement.

"Wild girls seem to have an aptitude and an ability to connect on all fronts.

Tshepo Ndzimande says the most exciting thing about loose girls is they have libidos that rev faster than a BMW engine.

"Loose girls are generally experienced. They've been there done that a lot of times and know what gets the best results."

But Ndzimande warns that these women are only good for sex, not for relationships.
