We sadly note the death at the weekend of Humphrey Khoza, one of the most influential black entrepreneurs of our time.

We sadly note the death at the weekend of Humphrey Khoza, one of the most influential black entrepreneurs of our time.

Articulate, humble, streetwise and quietly confident were some of the attributes that made Khoza stand out as a leader. He was not too shy to avail himself for leadership when called upon to do so at crucial moments of our nation building from the early 1990s.

If a case had to be made for the importance of black empowerment or any thorny national issue, for that matter, Khoza would be entrusted with the task of masterly articulating the point to convince even the most cynical audience.

His oratory skills had been nurtured in the church and he used them effectively to market the national lottery as a former chief executive of Lotto operator Uthingo.

Bra Humphrey will be sorely missed by all.
