These families were forcefully removed from this township by the apartheid regime in the early 1950s under the Group Areas Act. After the newly elected democratic government in 1994 the families were requested to apply for compensation under the Land Claims Act. They were also permitted to buy stands and stay in the area.
It is shocking that we still have such backward people in our midst 12 years into the new South Africa.
This is madness.
We need to redouble our efforts at eliminating racism.
South Africa simply cannot afford to have such narrow-minded people living in the country.
