The mother of \murdered Bonginkosi Sydney Tsobolo, 23, broke down in the Pretoria high court and refused to forgive her son's murderer.

Bonginkosi died when he was drowned in a bath tub. His mother, Selina, told the court this week that no amount of money or remorse from Martinus Nel would return her son.

"It is painful and heartbreaking and I wish I can never see [my son's murderer] again. I feel so heart- broken," she said.

Selina had earlier rejected Nel's R20 000 compensation offer and apology.

She said the money would not give her back her son and she refused to accept Nel's apology because "he should not apologise to me, but to the deceased".

The court also heard how Nel fired Selina when she asked him about her son's whereabouts.

She said Nel told her the last time he saw Bonginkosi was when he went to the shops, but when Selina told him she did not find him there, he swore at her.
