Irvin Buhlalu has been offered R100 000 to fight Mlungisi Dlamini in what could be a bloody battle for etween the KwaZulu-Natal fighters.
Buhlalu, who is from Chesterville, is the national lightweight champion and Dlamini, from Esikhawini, is ranked second.
But Buhlalu does not command the respect he deserves.
The fighters almost exchanged blows at Victoria Mxenge Hall n Umlazi last Friday night.
Fight fans who converged on the hall for the South African heavyweight clash between champion Osborne Machimane and Wiseman Dlomo witnessed the pushing and shoving.
Dlamini took off his shirt and was ready to rumble.
But WBF junior featherweight titleholder Zolani Marali stopped the threatening fisticuffs.
Mboneni Dlamini, Mlungisi's father and manager, who enjoyed the proceedings, offered Buhlalu R100 000 to fight his son, even if it is a non-title clash.
"We want to show people that we can beat you [Buhlalu]," he said. " I wish I can persuade Benedict Dlamini, who must fight you, to step aside and give us a chance to end your reign."
Dlamini shared his father's sentiments.
"Buhlalu has been beating cripples. I am the shark - I will sever him, " he said.
The champion was enraged.
"You are still wet behind your ears. Go establish yourself by defeating other up-and-coming boxers," he fumed.
"You've been saying lots of things about me and that is total disrespect to the champion.
"I hope you are being misled into believing that you are a real thing. I will punish you severely when that day comes."
