A young man from a remote village is recording his poetry to promote Venda culture.

Poet Lutendo Mathobo, popularly known as "Masimbe", from Tshifulanani Lwamondo- Mathule outside Thohoyandou, is promoting Venda culture through poetry.

The 22-year-old man's poetic career began as a child when he started performing at weddings, church services and traditional functions while still at primary school.

After matriculating from Lwamondo High School, Mathobo released his first album Vhudele ho balela pfene last year which featured the hot track Ambani nga tshivenda, which translates as "Speak in Venda".

Mathobo has now released his second album Tshumisano.

His manager, Nkhangeleni Mudau, said he decided to assist Mathobo because he wanted to promote the Venda language and culture.

"We are planning to perform throughout South Africa to promote Venda culture and the talent of this young man," Mudau said.
