Pupils at Umlazi's Khuthala Lower Primary School are winners.

They have won the Nampak Tissue Collect and Win Competition. Though they did not win money, the prize has won them dignity and comfort.

The school's 13 decrepit toilets are going to be revamped.

School principal Nomusa Zuke said the toilets were a disaster waiting to happen.

"Drains are blocked and they cannot flush. We are afraid that one day one of the kids will fall and get injured," she said.

Khuthala won the Nampak-run competition after collecting the most toilet paper rollers for recycling in the province.

The school accommodates more than 700 pupils.
