J Something: If he’s not on stage, he’s in the kitchen

Who would have thought that the singer from popular house band MiCasa loves the pots?

Joao Fonseca popularly known as J' Something has ventured into cooking; a passion he had hidden behind his many talents and is set to launch his show titled ‘Something’s Cooking’.

“Cooking good food is something I have grown up with. Both my parents work in the hospitality industry. My mom owned a restaurant and my dad designed menus for five star hotels, so it’s always been a very important part of my upbringing.”

“So with my free time I explore that side of me. I taste different cuisines around the world and bring them back into my kitchen and experiment.”

Since music pre-occupies much of his time, cooking has become a great way for him to escape from the busy life.

“Nothing brings me more happiness than spending time in the kitchen. I decided to work on my kitchen and create my space where I feel happiest after my music overload,” he says.

Although J' Something did confirm the plan for a cooking show, he admitted that he is still uncertain about the date when one can tune in to watch him work his magic in the kitchen.

“The only reason why I am doing a cooking show is because people have asked me to share my cooking on TV. It will be personal and if everything goes according to plan it will be soon,” he says

Growing up with parents who mastered hospitality and made a living out of it, Fonseca discovered a similar taste and interest in food.

He says is ready to show off and explore a part of him that’s unique and kitchen bound.

On his website J' Something has started sharing some of his favourite meals and recipes.

He makes it clear that he is picky and that he does not bake. He says he does not like desserts that need to process overnight.

“I don’t bake. It’s not my thing. Doing desserts is so different to grilling a steak or marinating your chicken. It’s just too precise for me.”

“When it comes to desserts, what I generally don’t like is that most things have to stay overnight or you have to bake them for like 3 hours,” he says.

He has become a bit of a creative in the kitchen coming up with recipes like gourmet home-made burgers which he makes from scratch.

“I love burgers. And I don’t mean take out burgers. I love gourmet home-made burgers.”

“I kind of know what food goes with what. All the recipes on my blog are my own,” says the musician.
