High fashion at low prices

WINTER is well upon us, with Uggs and heavy jackets rearing their ugly heads at bus stops everywhere across South Africa.

So, with that, a family clothing store decided to launch their winter range, with a fashion show at the Northgate ice rink.

Celebrities, fashion editors and buyers took their front row seats for the fashion show, with singer and Metro FM deejay Unathi Nkayi as the master of ceremonies.

The Massumi and Enzo range was a complete hit. It is a collection of eclectic, hip and totally classy looks.

The children's range had the crowd in awe.

Fashion designer Ephraim Molingoana was impressed. "I loved the show," he said.

"There were a few hiccups, but having said that, I loved the range, especially the men's sweaters - those I'd definitely wear.

"I loved the fit of the men's jackets, the use of fabric, and colours. There was a gorgeous 'ala Chanel' suit that one of the female models had on, and I thought that was amazing.

"I loved the kids' range the most. They were very cute and very current. I could swear I've seen David Beckham's kids in something similar. So, overall, the winter range is set to be current and relevant with international trends."

Another designer who seemed smitten with the range was Thabo Mailula, founder and head designer of Black Noise. "It was not what you would expect from the store. I was blown away. I loved the use of bold prints and colours. Most of the pieces here were I'd definitely seen on a runway during Fashion Week, or something I could have designed myself. "

Spotted among the celebrities at the show were TV presenters Dineo Ranaka, Zizo Beda and Idols contestant Tshidi Tenyane.
