Former Generations star now Miss SA judge

POPULAR actress Sonia Sedibe is making good her mission to grow her brand after being selected as one of the Miss South Africa pageant judges.

Sedibe, regarded as a gem of the South African TV industry, popularised her character as Ntombi Khumalo in Generations, surpassing the local entertainment norms and standards.

"I have always watched and attended Miss SA events, and I have always loved to contribute. When Sun International spokeswoman Sue Klerk approached me, she told me that they wanted to take the brand to another level and that they wanted me on board," says Sedibe.

"I feel honoured to be part of this life-changing experience because it means that they have noticed my potential."

The new panel of celebrity judges includes Metro FM sports anchor and TV personality Robert Marawa, popular DJ and TV presenter Anele Mdoda and Cape Talk DJ Kieno Kammies. Former Miss SA Sonia Raciti will remain the principal judge.

"It is the norm that we change judges from time to time to bring a fresh perspective into the competition, otherwise the contest would be boring," said Klerk.

"Her popularity is vivid as we saw her win a Duku Duku award for Best Actress in 2005 and being rated in the top four of the Drum Darlings 2007."
