This Is For Keeps, a play that tells a story about love and the problems associated with it, opens at the South African State Theatre early on September 7.

The production is written by Venessa Cooke, Danny Koegh and Janice Honeyman and directed by Diamond Mokoape.

The main characters in the cast are Molefe Monaisa and Boitumelo Mkhabela.

This Is For Keeps is a love story that anyone who has ever been in love can relate to; the ups and downs, the trust and mistrust, the manipulation and dishonesty in relationships.

It reveals the truth - not everything that glitters is gold.

It is a play that allows the audience to experience first hand what the walls of any home would reveal if they could speak, especially when people living within these homes are too scared to speak about love that is filled with fear on a daily basis.

The play explores the various forms of abuse that some couples endure; couples who have committed themselves to love, cherish and honour "till death do us part".

Mokoape, is currently employed as a fieldworker at the South African State Theatre, where his job is to teach and train drama groups in Pretoria.

In 2009 at State Theatre's Mzansi Fela Festival, she, alongside colleague, Kakanyo Pilane, won the best group award in the children's theatre category.

This is for Keeps is part of The State Theatre's 52 Seasons programme, which has recently merged with the debut programme aimed at developing new directors and writers.

Through these programmes The State Theatre aims to developing quality drama works and bridge the gap between the developing and mainstream arts.

To date, four directors have been given the platform to showcase their talents through productions such as And The Girls in Their Sunday Dresses, Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Towns Women's Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery, My Children My Africa and Have you seen Zandile?

This Is For Keeps is on at The State Theatre until September 25 2011.
