A life of fun - 'Men who go there are loaded. If you are looking for a rich man this is a hunting ground to go to'

HE IS Durban's social butterfly and the life and soul of many a party in Durban and beyond. A party without Tha Simelane is so dead it could easily be mistaken for a kiddie's slumber party

He has a love-hate relationship with Durbanites. Some see him as a nuisance, while other see him as an essential accessory to any gathering. We asked him:

What is your favourite part about living in Durban?

What I like about Durban is the weather. Even in winter you can grab your bikini and go to a beach party.

What are the essential places to go if you only have a weekend to visit?

Ushakaland in Eshowe is a place to go. This is the perfect place for de-stressing. This place is peaceful and quiet.

What's your favourite place to go for a quiet meal?

The Oyster Box in Umhlanga Rocks. The crowd that goes there is classy. It is people who know their story and are not into other people's business.

What's one thing you can only get in Durban?

The vibe. Durban vibe is unique. Durbanites are a unique breed. They are friendlier, warmer and loving. And they know how to throw a good party.

Where will you find the best burger?

Nothing beats Oven Bake. It is situated in central Durban. Their burgers are juicy and delicious. If you you are watching your weight my advice is: do not go near that place.

Cocktail:

For a nice cocktail you have to go to Moyos at Shaka Marine World. They know how to mix their drinks. The following day you don't wake up babalased.

Vintage clothing store:

Vetigo is my store. They sell the best vintage clothes. I have found two or three.

Hair Salon:

Laks Salon in Durban central is where I do my hair. It is owned by Lale Khathi. She is DJ Tira's ex-wife. The crowd that go there is classy.

You get refreshments while waiting for your stylist. DJ C'ndo, Bongi Dube and the wives of Durban tycoons do their hair here.

Best African dish:

Ace's Place in Point. That place is on point. They serve nice and clean mogodu. The place is so clean that you will not spot a single fly.

All-night dance party:

De la Sol. This place is frequented by the whose who of Durban from business tycoons to celebrities.

Men who go there are loaded. If you are looking for a rich man this is a hunting ground to go to.

Spa treatment:

Mangwanani Spa in Ballito is where the best massages are done. Most spas have female therapists but here you find young and hunky male therapists.

What's your hottest shopping destination?

I do my shopping in La Lucia Mall. You find all kinds of hot people with taste. It is so safe that you can shop without worrying about your bag being snatched.

What's your favourite hotel?

Sun Coast Hotel. It is situated at the Beach Font. It is so homely, it does not feel like you are not at home.

Their bar has a beautiful garden where you can relax with you partner and sip some stiff cocktails, while you feel the sea breeze on your face.

What's your favourite shisanyama?

Maz's Lifestyle in Mlazi is a place I go to almost every Sunday after church.
