Suspense, plenty of heat, romance and big decisions; this is what The Bachelorette South Africa – featuring its first black headliner – promises to deliver this season.

The MNET reality show, making a debut on February 11 with gorgeous Qiniso van Damme as the focal point, announced a line-up of suitors who will be vying for her heart on Friday.

Van damme (28), who is the sister of the unapologetically fiery politician Phumzile van Damme, will have her pick from a number of eligible bachelors, whose careers range from a construction company owner and a trainee chartered, to a techie and a music industry professional.

The model, actress and masters student has previously spoken about the type of man that makes her tick, telling Sowetan last year that she was attracted to a guy that is sure of himself and what he wants in life.

"I'm looking for an honest and kind gentleman, who isn't intimidated by an independent queen,” she said.

"He needs to be someone who is ready to get a cheerleader in his life - I'm ready to support him with everything he aspires to be."

Of her barrier-breaking feat, Van Damme said she viewed it seriously, and as a ‘huge privilege’.

"I'm definitely excited and nervous to be the first Bachelorette for South Africa."I have a jumble of feelings inside my tummy and I'm just trying to process it all," she said.
