Bridget Nkuna takes over as Soweto TV new boss

South Africa’s fastest growing community television channel, Soweto TV, has announced its new  CEO - Bridget Nkuna.

Nkuna has a strong  marketing background, having worked as a director for  Westcon Group, an international technology company. In the media space, she had a stint at the former Voice of Soweto, now known as Jozi FM. She has also worked for SABC as a continuity presenter.

 “I am delighted to be joining the Soweto TV team, it brings me right back to my passion which is entertainment and broadcasting," Nkuna said.

"The opportunities within the channel are endless and I believe we have such an important role to play within the community of Soweto.

"It is our role help uplift and support the community using one of the most powerful mediums – television.”

Nkuna added that she was looking forward to working with her team to define mechanisms that would  better serve the community of Soweto.

“Television and broadcasting are sitting at a precipice; we need to embrace digital transformation in order to remain relevant, and we can only do this by embracing technology. It is our role to ensure that we are able to broadcast to our community across multiple environments and multiple devices.” 

She holds a BA in law and psychology through Wits University and a diploma in marketing management, and is currently working on completing her MBA at the Gordon Institute of Business Science.

Soweto TV is a  free-to-air channel in Gauteng province and is also broadcast to subscribers on DStv Channel 251, and StarSat Channel 488.
