Johannesburg will play host to some inspirational individuals at a unique event aimed at empowering women.

The inaugural In Good Company Experience is designed to celebrate women and discuss innovative ideas that will contribute towards changing the current state of affairs in terms of gender equality.

The event is set to take place on Tuesday August 28 at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton.

Following In Good Company's successful series of talks across the country‚ the event in Joburg will bring together the voices of ambitious African women and men from various fields of the business spectrum. What they share is a passion for gender diversity and inclusivity‚ as well as building Africa. “Achieving gender diversity is imperative for all of us‚” said Jabulile Gwala‚ the founder of In Good Company. “It’s not just an issue to be solved and championed by women.

“It affects us all‚ hence we found it important for us to create a space where both women and men can get together and start ideating for solutions to change the current status quo.

“We live in a mixed-gender society and therefore the conversation cannot happen with women alone‚” said Gwala.

Speakers already confirmed for the event include Xoliswa Daku‚ a lawyer-turned-property developer who is building her empire one skyscraper at a time; Mzamo Masito‚ the chief marketing officer at Google Africa and head of an NGO called African Men Care; Nivani Govinder from Google; Charl Basil from Pernod Ricard South Africa; and TT Mbha‚ the CEO of Black Real Estate. Also invited to speak at the event is American actress‚ writer and producer Issa Rae‚ best known for her work on the popular series Awkward Black Girl and Insecure. According to the organisers‚ “Issa stands for women working together. She celebrates the connectivity of the ‘black girl’ society. She is clear on her truth and continues to break boundaries.”

Additional speakers are expected to be announced later this month. The event will be hosted by actress Nomzamo Mbatha and will feature live entertainment from the multi-talented Unathi Nkayi.

Tickets for the event go on sale on Monday July 9 at R1250 from www.nutickets
